Customer Review: Love my 7680

I swore I would never own an inkjet as my main printer, due to speed, ink cost, and clogging. This printer changed my mind when I picked it up 20 months ago.
I have run over 3700 pages through it, mostly composed of web printing and black and white document printing. The 58.5cc black cartridges have yielded approximately 2150 pages. I don't print a lot of photos, so the cyan and magenta usage has been minimal. Yellow does get consumed faster than I expected - in my usage about 1 large yellow per year. Since it is my main printer and sees frequent use, clogging has been essentially a non-issue.
I run a minimum of 22lb paper in my 7680 and have never had even one duplex jam. A big part of me suspects people's problem with the duplexer is running flimsy paper.
I have had the adf pull in multiple sheets by mistake. I think the rated capacity is just not reliable. When we don't fill it over half capacity we don't see issues. The scan quality is not great, but that isn't the main purpose we bought it for. The fax works fine. I love the fact that the computer doesn't need to be running to copy and fax. The copy quality in b/w and color is more than acceptable for home use.
I haven't used the standalone scan to folder feature.

The printer is connected to my main computer through usb, and also to my router so that my other computers can print without the main pc being on. Yeah, the software is bloatware. And the drivers cause frequent issues with my computers hanging on shutdown. (XP is as pathetic of an OS as any that MS puts out, it can't even kill a hanging process!) No printer is completely perfect folks, and I am way more than willing to live with a few complaints with the massive ink savings this thing has over the competition. I was spending $70/year on a toner cartridge for my old laser printer, and I am spending about the same or slightly less on ink for the 7680 and I am getting color, auto-duplex, and faster ptinting. I am extremely satisfied after 20 months of usage, and I really can't relate to the venomous negative reviews on this thing. This thing is a steal at the current price!

Customer Review: What is up with HP? NOT THIS PRINTER! And don't get the extended warranty

This is the second L7680 I have owned. I have owned several 7210 and received my first 7680 through the upgrade service because of my extended contract with HP. This one worked well for exactly ONE year until the warranty is up and then it started giving me problems. The ADF started sending pages through without copying, faxing or scanning them. I spent countless hours with a heavily accented East Indian man who had me try several things over and over and over. None of these worked and then the printhead failed. So, now, nothing worked. He is supposed to be sending me a new printhead which I have yet to receive. That was 2 weeks ago. So, I took it upon myself to purchase a brand new L7680 and got it all set up. the first thing that happened was the ADF was sending pages through without copying, printing or scanning them. I fax long documents up to 20 pages and have to stand there and put them back through when the ADF sends it through without copying or faxing them. Then, they are received totally out of order. This new one was doing this as soon as it was set up!! I thought I was cursed or something. I called HP and was on hold waiting for an agent for 37 minutes and finally hung up and tried chatting online. At least they don't have a heavy accent, however, they are working with about 12 people at the same time so your wait time between responses and questions is considerable. I did the same thing I had done with the other one, unplug it, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. then, unplug it, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in while holding down the # and 6 keys. that didn't work either. I had registered it online but they had no record of it even though when I went into my account with HP, lo and behold, there it was, the serial number of the thing. but I had to reregister it and wait 12 hours until it shows up somewhere. HP is going downhill I am afraid. I have a laser printer that I've had for 8 years and it's still causing NO problems, however, these all in ones seem to have real problems with the automatic document feeders after one year, except in this case, after one fax. Oh, and if you buy the extended contract, beware because they will NEVER send you a brand new unit again. You will receive a "refurbished" unit which is supposed to mean it was opened in a store somewhere but was never used or it had a small problem and their techs put it back to perfect. Well, that's not true. In working with them over the 7210 that started having the same problems they would send me a replacement unit and I found that whatever problem they were having when the previous owners sent it in, I had. that was useless. Don't spend the money for an extended contract, you just guarantee more time with a heavily accented Indian person who reads you from a book about what to do and eventually gives up because nothing works right. I'm now looking at purchasing a Brother or something else. HP is not what they used to be. the printing quality is great when they work but they cannot be depended on to work more than one year...and sometimes not even one week.

Oh, and here's something else I learned. If you buy one on eBay for a really great price that states they are "BRAND NEW, NEVER OPENED" Beware of that too because what you are receiving is a unit that sat somewhere and the original warranty is no longer valid. I did that and cannot get the seller to respond to me. this unit was produced in 2007 and the warranty wound down and out in April of 2008 so I cannot get a new one from HP. They do keep track of those serial numbers!!! I'm just a little old 60 year old disabled nurse trying to do some service where I need a fax that works and can't seem to get HP or anyone else to stand behind this unit.

Customer Review: HP=Horse Poop

This printer (like most of HP's products) is a piece of junk. Its less than a month old and I've had problems from the get go. Trouble scanning, trouble importing. The only thing it does right is print. It never wants to turn off for some reason. It will just sit there for an hour (or more if I let it) saying "shutting down". I'm beginning to think this thing is possessed. The only way I can get it to work is to pull the plug and re-boot when I want it to do something for me. Don't buy it. This is a total waste of money and time. To top it off HP customer service is no help at all. I just spent a half hour on the phone with them only for them to transfer me four times, repeatedly ask my name and phone number. I was not helped in the least and the [...] hung up on me. Thanks so much Hewlett Packard for putting another piece of garbage in this world that we don't need.

Customer Review: Hp Printer

This product may have been good, but the printer that I recieved is not working correctly. I can not get the on/ off button to work.I was very disappointed. It has a wireless link, but could not get this on either. I had to spend my spare time with Hp support (They were great by the way.)

Anyway this printer would not work correctly. I think if it had worked it would have been a good printer for the money. The seller took about a week to respond and did not even read what I had written. I reresponded with no result. I was very upset, because I had wasted about several weeks dealing with this problem. I needed a printer I could use right then for my students.

Customer Review: Great value

I purchased the HP Scanjet G4050 to convert over 1000 slides to digital photos on a MAC. The purchase was well worth it. It was capable of scanning 16 slides to good quality in around 15 minutes. I did attempt to increase the quality, but it took significantly longer with little improvement. This scanner is a good bargin for those who want to scan slides for home use.

Customer Review: Great HW, weak SW

Have had this for a week and overall pleased. Comments (based on only 35mm slides):

- Very good HW; solidly built, good scan quality

- HW dust removal takes a long time, and not very effective. It's quicker (with good results) for me to use an anti-static brush on the slides, and then use the Healing Tool in PS CS4.

- 6 color and higher bit depth make the scan time significantly longer, and I can't see a difference in high dpi scans.

- The HP-provided software is the weak link here. Settings and Help are both spread out in 2 or 3 different areas, and hard to understand (and I work with computers for a living).

- The deal-breaker for me regarding the HP software is that the auto- select/crop for slides is always off. It consistently cuts off left and bottom (and the amount varies), and there is no way to fix it except laboriously selecting each single slide, zooming in, manually changing the selection area, zooming out - and doing this 16 times for a batch of slides.

- I switched to Vuescan SW and am quite pleased with it. Significantly more features and easier to use.

Overall, very pleased with quality and price of the scanner, but IMO it needs 3rd party SW to make it easy to use.

Customer Review: HP Officjet Pro L7780

I have owned this product for just over six months and find it to be the best multifunction that I have owned. I use it to print documents for customers and for my job reports, to scan receipts for expense reports, and to fax documents. While the printer is larger and slightly noisier than my old Lexmark X8350, being able to have 3-hole punch and unpunched paper available and to be able to print on both sides of a page outweigh the noise. Ink usage is reasonable and I get over 2000 pages out of an XL cartridge of black ink.
The wireless networking ability is a great asset. I use 3 laptops and one desktop PC and am able to print from anywhere in the house or from the front porch on those warm summer days. Whether using XP or Vista setup was relatively simple and has been reliable and trouble-free.
I would buy this again without a second thought if I ever need a replacement.

Customer Review: Awesome Printer

The printer arrived properly packaged. I set up the printer within 30 minutes including the software. I read all of the negative reviews, but I did not experience any of them. I first set up my PC, yes it did take about 15 minutes to load the software. After that, the printer works great. I set up my Mac wirelessly in about 1 minute. I'm no computer guru or even all that savy with computers. That might also help why I didn't have any problems. I am using most of this printers capabilities, faxing, scanning, accessing it wirelessly and more. I will give another feedback in a few months, but for now, I am very happy with this printer. It will be used in my home office. HP Printers have always been good to me.

Disappointed, but still please overall.

Did not come with a USB cable; pretty disappointing. (-1)
Disabled all BS software, and it is otherwise working fine. (0)
Ink cartridges very expensive. (-1)

Works wonderful on a Mac

Purchased this product to scan and print photos.
In conjunction with HP Premium Plus Photo Paper, the recreation of scanned images was wonderful. No problem with installing the software and has not caused a single problem.
Scanning is super easy and copying is a snap.
When printing photos, I noticed that the ink was used faster than for other items, but what can you expect when printing high quality photos...
All in all, this is a great machine at a wonderful price.
