Customer Review: Love it, love it, LOVE IT!
I went to HP website to research the latest updates and information for the J5780. After I signed up with HP, it mentioned : RECENT DRIVERS - NEW! for the J5780 Printer. In fact there are SEVERAL updates, drivers and files for this printer. Some files date back to 2007, several in 2008, and there a few now for 2009! So if you are having problems with this printer, check out the HP web site. With that said after reading the several unhappy reviews for this printer, I was very leery about buying this model but took a chance on it any way. Of all the different printer makes I've had over the last 15 years, HP printers have always come through for me. I still own three HP printers that work quite well. Some purchased dating back to 1995. Prior to purchasing the J5780, I've used my very dependable HP Deskjet 840c on a daily basis for everything. I bought the 840c new over 9+ years ago and it still works and going strong. I just needed a newer model that would clear up my desk of a copier, scanner, a fax machine etc. and one that would print better photo's than my HP 840c. The J5780 has not only saved me desk space, but has also worked very nicely for me (so far). I love this model and so glad I took the chance on this printer and hope it continues to work as dependable as my HP 840c has. It's quiet, very nice looking, easy to set up and use. I also really like all the software that came with it as well as the fast updates that HP had me download for it. (I run on Windows XP professional) Special notes: After you set up the printer, Align printer cartridge, set the language, date and time etc. you then install the software BEFORE you hook it up to USB. After this step, you then reconnect the printer to the USB. As for the ink, in the 286 page manual, chapter 12, page 126, it mentions to keep the cartridges in 60 to 78F room temps (not going to be an easy task in the summer and I live in Portland OR!). Another part that caught my eye in the manual was : Do NOT open the print cartridge door unless necessary. This exposes the cartridges to air, which REDUCES the life of the printer cartridge. I do find it strange that this printer is NOT supplied with a USB cable (needs a Type A to Type B USB cable) Fortunately, I had ordered a few from Geeks.com web site. Geeks also sells great items on Amazon as well and is how I discovered them. Anyway, for me this is a fantastic printer and hope to have it around for years to come as I have with my other HP printers.
Customer Review: Very Noisy!
I've had this printer a little over a year now, while it's not terrible, there are a few annoyances I wanted to point out for future buyers. 1) This printer is extremely noisy, especially while scanning. Both in using the document feeder and the flatbed scanner. 2) It shakes a lot while printing. It seems like HP sped up the movement of the printer head in order to speed up the printing process. Consequently the printer shakes quite a bit while printing. I have it sitting next to my computer monitor and it shakes the whole desk. 3) The result is that the printed document is a little smeared. I haven't figured out a way to slow down the printer to try to get better quality. The main reason it is tolerable is that I don't print very often. I mostly use the scanner. If/when I get fed up with this one, I'm going to get a Cannon Laser All-In-One.

Customer Review: Unreliable printer
I have been struggling with this all-in-one for three weeks now. First, I wanted to makes some scans, but then I received an error that the ink cartridge was not recognized anymore. The machine won't scan if you don't have ink in both cartridges! I still had ink left in both cartridges, so I was sad to replace them, but if it fixes the problem then it's worth it right? So I replaced both the ink cartridges, and the machine will finally make a scan. But now the the magenta won't print! It's a new color cartridge too! I've performed 5 cleaning cycles and wiped off the cartridge with rubbing alcohol and the printer still prints only blue and yellow... which makes for some very ugly pictures. This printer and scanner has failed me when I needed it most.
Customer Review: Excellent 3 in 1 Printer for a low price.
The HP DeskJet F335 3 in 1 Printer, Scanner and Copier does everything well. The unit makes a lot of funny, clunky noises before and during printing but so what...it does the job. Black and white and color printing are equally satisfactory. I've had it over a year without any problems whatsoever. For less then 50 bucks it's great. It would be perfect for a college student....cheap and reliable. HP or off-brand print cartridges are available everywhere.

Customer Review: Avery Labels slip
Avery labels are impossible to print. The printer wheels cannot get a good grip on the slippery paper. I've tried cleaning the wheels (although access is difficult). In all other ways I'm pleased with this printer. But since printing labels is an important part of my business, this printer is useless to me. This problem might totally be the fault of Avery. All I know is that the two products are incompatible with each other.
Customer Review: Quite trusty, when doing its proper job! 4.3 stars.
Pros: Black Nice design Prints relatively fast Can print multiple copies at a time Scanner Copier PhotoSmart Essential (?) HP Cheap Cons: Slightly bulky HP Malfunctions (blinking lights, paper gets stuck half-way through printing process) (Insert other printing problem(s) here) Cheap Overall, I must say I do recommend this HP Deskjet to anyone in need of a printer. It's pretty reliable most of the time (90% of the time it prints and copies things, without fail. I've tried scanning 2-3 times, with no luck. So I can't comment too much on that!). There are better printers out there for sure. But there are many more printers that don't perform this well. Recommended. 4.3 stars.
